Wai hello!
Giants Software is the most boring rich company in games, and that is why they keep winning.
Swiss studio. Founded 2004. Offices in Schlieren / Zurich, Erlangen, and Brno. A few hundred people at most. No Fortnite island. No $70 live-service sermon. They make Farming Simulator, sell it on every platform that will take a tractor, then sell you another pack of real-world machines six weeks later. That is the business.
The product is not “farming.” The product is repetition that people like
Farming Simulator 25 launched 12 November 2024. By August 2026 Giants said it had passed 5 million copies. That is not a viral meme number. That is a lot of people who will buy a slurry injector pack for $8 and then play for 100 hours.
The loop never changed:
Sell the base game.
Drop licensed brand packs.
Drop a Year 2 season pass.
Drop a bigger expansion with a new map.
Repeat until the next numbered Farming Simulator.
Right now that means Vredo Pack, SKY Agriculture Pack, Emergency Pack, Year 2 Season Pass, and Beans & Alpacas landing 27 October 2026 with bananas, coffee, alpacas, and a South America map called Catuaí. They will put straw hats on a gamescom booth and act like this is a cultural moment. It is a content calendar.
They also shipped Farming Simulator 26 on Switch and mobile in May 2026. Same franchise, smaller device, extra checkout. Then they are publishing Project Motor Racing because even tractor people sometimes want a steering wheel that is not attached to a combine.
The engine is the quiet flex
Giants is not just a farm-game factory. They own the GIANTS Engine and they let the community build on it. That is the real moat. Official machines get you in the door. Mods keep you there for 400 hours.
ModHub is not charity. It is user-generated DLC they do not have to staff. Every Ponsse harvester, every stupid wash plant, every 4x map is unpaid content that makes the base game look bigger than the team that shipped it.
That is why they keep slamming the table about free mods. August 2026 they said it again: mods stay free. Donations fine. Videos fine. Official ModHub fine. Paid Patreon locks, VIP Discords, “pay 500 złoty for a map,” selling the zip file — not fine.
They are right about the principle and hypocritical about the economics. Giants sells season passes. Modders are told to eat donations. The company gets a living game. The community gets a lecture. Both things can be true.
How they survive while flashier studios die
They do not chase teenagers. They chase people with jobs, spare evenings, and a weird love of realistic hydraulics. That audience does not care about your narrative director. They care whether the new John Deere has the right header.
They license real brands. That sounds boring until you realise it is the whole marketing department. John Deere, Claas, Ponsse, Fendt, JCB. The manufacturers get a digital showroom. Giants gets authenticity they could never fake with “Lizard” clones alone.
They do not need a battle pass in the wheat. The season pass is the battle pass, except it adds a machine instead of a dance emote. Players complain, then buy it, then record a 3-hour video about the machine.
The ugly parts
The numbered release cycle is a treadmill. FS19, 22, 25, mobile 26, next fat sequel whenever the calendar says so. A lot of “new gen” is last gen plus better lighting, more brands, and another map.
Console players still eat a worse mod situation than PC. Giants talks a big community game, then half the interesting economy lives on GitHub and KingMods.
They also love announcing sales milestones the day before a trade show. 5 million copies, then bananas. Classic publisher timing. Not evil. Just very good at turning a spreadsheet into a press release.
The 2026 read
Giants is a mid-size European studio that found one obsession and refused to get bored of it. While everyone else was inventing a new way to charge per impression, they kept selling complete-ish simulation games to people who will drive a tractor in a circle until the sun comes up.
That is not prestige. That is a license to print money in a genre nobody in Los Angeles wants to understand.
If you think Farming Simulator is a joke, they have 5 million recent copies and a community that will install 90 mods to prove you wrong. If you think Giants is a community saint, remember who owns the engine, the shop, the season pass, and the rules.
They are not your friend. They are a very competent tractor company.
Pok gai.
